What is a 753 EDI Document? Lowes Required Ready To Ship

A 753 Ready To Ship document or also referred to with other retailers as the Request for Routing Instructions. This is to require US suppliers operating as stock orders that are ship freight collect. This document is required per PO received by the retailer and in cases with Lowe’s, they must be received to allow for a shipment plan with their transportation system. There is a specific requirements per retailer and if a supplier with Lowes, they must be received by 7pm EST each night via EDI process.

What exactly is this document providing to the retailer? It provides these main components of Vendor number that was provided on the PO, PO Number, Final Destination, Ship To, Weight, Shipping Unit (i.e. Case, Carton, Pallet, etc.), and Ready to Ship Date. This document must be sent 3 days prior to the expected ship date provided on the PO to be compliant and communicate to the retailer the expected pickup date. Below is an example (X12 format)
